A Poem: Smoking Sunbeams

Smoking Sunbeams

A gentle breeze calls her name
Asking her, please join the game

Iron fetters hold her fast
Cruelly forged, in the past

Finding solace in a  single voice
Loving child, helps her choice

Gathering strength deep within
A slow dance,  she starts to spin

Pinions rumble chains break free
The world is hers, now to see

Joyous leaps and happy song
Fill the day, and all night long

Smiling at this wondrous start
Smoking sunbeams, warm her heart

A Poem: Game of the Gods

Game of the Gods

Marble faces
  Withered with time
Ageless beauty
  Too sublime

Helen of Troy
   Alive once more
Leaning softly
  Against the door

Sultry eyes
   Engaging smile
This by far
   My hardest trial

Aphrodite
   Pulls at me

Open the cage
  And be free

Vision clouded
  Knees grown weak
Tongue twisted
  Impossible to speak

Now a prisoner

  Without a cell
Glorious Heaven or
  Fiendish hell?

A Poem: Distant Haven

 Distant Haven

darkened night
   quickened breath

vocal moan
   little death

fingers touch
   electric spark

steady pull
   beating heart

home's call
   far away

distant haven
   safe today

A Poem ... Radiant Life

Radiant Life

My daughters tease,
   With loving barbs
My little son says,
   "Cut the carbs"

They love me,
   This I know
In Autumn rain or
   Winter snow

Kings, Warriors
   Conquer in vain
To have the wealth
    I attain.

Sunshine bliss
   Shrouds my soul
To laugh and dance
   My only goal

I remember each
   Loved filled day
To be repeated,
   I hope and pray

This radiant life
  A gift to me
A treasure for
  All Eternity.

A Poem ... Another Meeting

Another Meeting

Meetings, boredom, fatigue and grief
They talk so much it's beyond belief

I wonder why I am here at all
I sit and stare at the barren wall

I listen but I don't hear a sound
I stare at the crack that's on the ground

I am the man who has no voice
I am here, but not by choice

I scream at the voices in my head
I wish I was asleep, or even dead

To be free again, all it takes
Is a dirty needle and some shakes

Oh help me, help me please
I am begging you on my knees

The meeting's over, I see the sun
Let's do it again, it was so much fun

A Poem ... My Land

My Land

Ancient Sages shuffle in
Preaching of heaven
Hinting of sin

Terrified youth lend bended ear
Frightened by tales
No one should hear

Penance paid by miserable life
Misery and agony
Filled with strife

Lines painted on every face
Patterns emerge
From every disgrace

A beaten people, stand alone
When evil men
Capture the throne

A Poem ... The Children Play

The Children Play

Years ago, far away
In a land of gold
The children play

Songs of summer, games in snow
Love and laughter
Why did he go?

Sunrises, sunsets, all the same
Wandering restless
Tranquility his shame

Bidding goodbye, to all he knew
Dancing away
To that distant blue

Burdens, hardships, mile after mile
Forging a man
Who forgot how to smile

Building a kingdom, never to sleep
Wealth upon wealth
All his to keep

Sitting alone, day after day
Dreaming of the past
Where the children play.
